Nope, I have been using macs since the Mac Plus! I can change the desktop picture but when I shutdown or reboot, it goes back to default. If I turn spaces off, everything works fine.

Screen sharing is enabled on both computers in Sys Prefs. They are both set up the exact same way. I can share (he can control my puter) but he can not.

The new Mini will be MUCH faster than your current iMac. I used to have the exact same iMac as you. I went from it to a Mac Tower Dual 1GHz G4 with 1.5GB of RAM. This was quite a step up in speed....

Well if you can't afford a new iMac, I would get a new Intel Mini or look into a refurbed iMac (if you've just got to have an iMac). Either one should serve you quite well.

I agree with the above, the iMac's graphic card would play no role in how fast it runs MS Office.

I run Office 2004 through Rosetta and it runs much faster than it did on my Dual 1 GHz G4 tower...
