upgraded from an IBook 700, the speakers on the IBOok were a waste of time and were too soft for playing DVD's , music etc ... poor volume.

OK worked it out, my second drive, DVD drive, was internal and was set as slave.
You have to have the internal DVD drive set as master for DVD player to be installed and for DVD player to work.

Just got my G4 733 with standard CDR drive. Had an external usb/firewire enclosure with a CDR in it, removed the CDR and put in a Pioneer DVD drive.
Works fine, plays DVD's...
