I work for a small company based in Cheltenham (outside Bristol/Birmingham). We are in discussions with other AASPs as well as Apple to help ease the load on other repair centers. In addition you can...

I'd reset the PRAM, boot to the install disk and repair permissions as well as the disk, then try an Archive and Install.

If all else fails try loosening the heatsinks and then tightening them...

Don't panic just yet. The screws you have missing are unlikely to be the cause of the issue, but if you have managed to get everything (keyboard, top case and bottom case) flush then you are doing...

That's going to be tough. 750 for a brand new notebook is a stonking price as it is and they are only a few months old. I doubt you will get any ex-demo until March/April time and very few people...

Firstly I would ask which screws are missing and which PBG4 you have (size and processor speed?). Then I'd say that you really need to get that optical drive flush or it's useless.

I have read a few reports about this, only on the MBP and only after the 10.4.8 update. Have you updated to that yet? It may be that something in the update stops the override from working...

Ease of take apart and expansion isn't everything though. I can probably change a logic board in a 12" iBook G4 quicker than any iMac purely because they are my favorite computer to take apart. I...

I agree, this issue needs to be addressed by Apple, and every other related manufacturer. I don't think it would be slow having a 2.5" drive though because you aren't reading and writing to your...

Would that be because it's easy to access, not many screws, simple (untidy) cabling or something I haven't yet thought of. Perhaps it's just your favorite design?

That's a rash statement judging from the recent changes in the MacBook Pro's and MacBook's isn't it? Apple are trying to balance how long it takes to service (time is money) making sure they service...

What's your fav. desktop to disassemble? 777 Views / 8 Replies
Perhaps I will follow this with your least favorite, but I was wondering what peoples favorites were?

I could add a poll, but it's more about why than which one. I hope it doesn't sound too odd.

Display defects are generally handled well by Apple, you shouldn't have any issues and it's certainly not normal. Apple employees wouldn't expect such a defect in their new pride and joy either.
