It'll take it. At work we have over 16k RAW images in LR. Sometimes you have to give it some time, but it does the job nicely. But then we've never used Aperture, so i can't give you a comparison.

Yea, handy. I use it to sort out the mail that gets delivered to two macs, that way the important mails get dloaded on both, while the junk and stuff I delete beforehand.
