I'd call apple care anyway. Let them know the "aesthetic problem" (as they call it) exists. That way, if it does cause a problem in the future, they have you on record about it.

by the DOS version of VPC, and install your own copy of Windows 2000.

if you need to buy the preload OS, buy win2000. XP slows VPC down.
