I have tried getting server monitor to work but to no avail. It just sits there saying is "waiting for response". The server IP is listed.

I suspect the installed zip drive is preventing my computer from auto sleeping.
I am hoping Apples next update will address this sleep issue but I wouldnt hold my breath

Sounds like a memory thing
If you have more than one RAM chip take out one and see if it stops the crashing ( or the other one).
Also run the hardware diagnosic software that comes with the mac.

Print centre would open and crash as soon try to add a printer.
I trashed the prefs but no use.
so I deleted the file and coppeied the print centre from another computer.
Now the priviledges are...
