Have a look at "niutil" in /usr/bin. The user picture is just a property in the netinfo database.

what i did was to find a burner that resembled mine from the same manufacturer and simply changed the name of the burner in the (previosuyl backuped!)...

i have no idea about .mac since i don't use it. but if you use an ordinary webdav server, just restrict the access.
