I use my 17" PB G4 (latest rev.) to power a 23" ACD in closed lid mode. Works like a charm, I don't even have any temperature issues.

As for the heat, you may be able to run the PB cooler by lowering the threshold for fans to kick in via G4 Fan Control...

Well, the graphics card has to power the ACD with a 1900x1200 resolution as opposed to the internal 1024x768. That definitely contributes to increased heat and resulting fan activity.

The stand, as you probably have already seen in the "comparative study,' is the iRac (http://www.theirac.com/product.html). It's cheap and it does the job just fine.

hello,

I'd like to buy a 20-inch cinema display to hook up to my powerbook. I'd most likely use the laptop in closed mode. my question is if the cinema display would cause the powerbook to heat up...
