Don't know if yours was fully charged, but the directions said that might happen to one that isn't charged enough. Evidently, the iPod doesn't get any charge during the actual file transfer process.

If you're worried about scratches or finger prints then I would get a case for it. IMHO, the chrome just doesn't look good at all with finger prints all over it... I'll be getting my new 4G 40GB...

Yes. I have no idea if the thermal paste in the machine would be affected by the spill or not (providing any of the liquid got onto those areas), but that's just one thing that he won't want to fail....
