HD is nice but I don't think it's widespread enough to justify it just yet. The best HDTV experience is still in DVD movies. Wait a year and see what kind of channel selection you can get.

Whenever you're looking at a cheap plasma TV, make sure the native resolution is more than 1024x768. That's the older (cheaper) technology. Most modern plasmas can do full 720p HD.
