Even if you had a better PCI card, and used the PCI/QE hack, it still wouldn't be advisable. It impacts your CPU and at 400mhz, it might be very noticeable.

DNS Settings? A long time ago I had to plug in the DNS settings my cable modem was pulling from the ISP in a Mac. My last router, I didn't have to do anything on my end to get it to work.
