I don't think the Mac only aspect is a flaw. Just the price.
IMHO Apple should have made the price point much lower. Even at the risk of taking a small loss on the product.

Check under the Advanced tab of the Energy Saver... 605 Views / 7 Replies  
Check under the Advanced tab of the Energy Saver CP. Make sure "allow processor cycling" is NOT checked. This option will often cause the problems you seem to be having.
