I dont have these problems with DB and I have a LOT of widgets installed.
The only problem i had was stuck widgets when playing around with Amnesty, so i've stopped using it.

I imagine most of your problems would be solved by a erase and install instead of a upgrade.

I did a erase and install and 10.4 works perfectly for me.

Now this is a problem i've had with Panther and Tiger.
I normally have my dock set to hidden and sometimes after i access an icon in the dock and the dock retracts, it still shows the floating name...

I assume in the Safari address bar that the URL ends in '.xml' or '.rss'?

Well Apple do say that you should move the applications from the applications folder (and i guess that includes putting them in sub-foldes). I would guess its more a Unix issue as Mac OS 9 never had...

As long as you've double-clicked the word to select it, then <command>+<CTRL>+<D> will pop-up the definition.

It doesnt work in the finder so it may not work with 'carbon' applications.
