Yes. I have found the exact same thing. And had to reboot to fix. Seems to happen if you disconnect from the VPN. And then try to reconnect.

aux: CISCO VPN allows for much faster non-vpn performance. Like Web-browsing.

No error message at all the first time. It connects to our VPN, I enter in the password, in negotiates the security. And then looks like it is ready to go, but then I can't reach our mail server....
