iBook died 582 Views / 3 Replies
Last night I left my G4 800 iBook running a freeware program called 'mpgtx' or something, in order to join 32 8 MB mpg files. This morning it appeared to be hung up on the first file so I quit the...

Quitting Finder? 581 Views / 3 Replies
Has 10.3.7 disabled quitting Finder? I've tried shutting it down in Activity Monitor and also used Tinkertools to enable 'Q' quitting, but it just reloads itself after a few seconds.

The reason I...

The new video drivers in the latest OSX patch seem to have smoothed WoW out a bit. It seems to have gained a few fps and there's less 'snagging'.

I hope you're right :) If the 1.2 MHz offers a substantial boost then I'll upgrade. If it's the video card then it's either drop an extra $1k on a PowerBook (not going to happen), or wait for Apple...

World of Warcraft on iBook 947 Views / 11 Replies
I've been playing WoW on my G4 800 iBook, and while it's playable, it's a bit choppy - usually 10-15 fps, with drops to 4-6 fps in places.

The thing is, 800 MHz is underspec, but I suspect that...

Thanks for the replies. I seem to have had limited success by using a shorter cable, turning off the PPP echo packets and using the V92 script. I'll cross my fingers :)

I tried MPlayer, but there are several problems.

Secondly, MPlayer...
