One more thing -- make sure you don't have Classic running in the background. Classic eats CPU cycles. Do a 'top' in the terminal shell while running Classic and you'll see what I mean.

In your situation, 256MB to the PC sounds about right, at least that way OS X has some breathing room. But you *will* see an improvement with 1GB in the machine.

I forgot about the eMate. I believe the Manta came out in early (March?) 1998, so that was after the eMate.

The following year they revised it to match the B&W G3, and gave it a VGA connector...

It sounds pretty good on a knee-high table. The sound bounces off the glass and radiates, so it's about the same as if it were on the floor.
