The set-up for my Mac was far easier than the two PC's I owned and the numerous ones I've had to set up at work. So from that stand point, my Mac just worked. In addition it has just worked anytime...

Make sure Java is enabled. Not sure, but that sounds like the problem to be on both Safari and Firefox. Gmail should work if it's not enabled, but then the number of features declines.

What about NeoOffice? Would it be a viable alternative? I haven't used it yet. I did use OpenOffice.org on a PC, and its presentation program worked reasonably well IMO.
