Seems a bit odd to like OS 9 but not 8.x. Visually and functionally they're pretty much the same. OS 9 add capabilities for multiple users and some enhanced Sherlock functions and some other tidbits....

Here's the short answer: You can't do it. If I remember right, the 5400s used IDE drives, and the 6100s used SCSI drives. You can't use an IDE drive in a SCSI computer without some modifications.
