Excellent, thanks much Bugs.
Now, let's compare and contrast...
<font face = "courier">333 G3 | iBook 500 | 500 G4
3.33 | 3.82 | 5.35 <--Software shading
2.74 | 4.40 | 6.75 <-- OpenGL shading
4.31 | 5.93 | 6.62 <--Final rendering:
</font>
The iBook is not the peppiest in software shading, probably due to a small backside cache and/or slow bus speed - it barely beats out my G3 which also sports a 66MHz system bus.
The G4 500 does cream both the iBook and 333 in OpenGL, but that's due to the fact that the G4 is outfitted with a Radeon.
However, the iBook 500's render is darn close to the G4, I'm impressed - does anyone know if CineBench 2000 is AltiVec enhanced? If it is, this is darn amazing!
Anyone else read anything into these results? Looks like I'd get quite a boost going from even my beige to a new iBook with the final rendering - plus the fact that I could sit right beside the object I'd like to model
