Hey ya'll, I have recently discovered HandBrake. It converts DVD's to iPod and MPEG-4 format. If I want to convert DVD's to play on my iPod video which program is better? Handbrake of Instant Handbrake? Are there any other ones ya'll recommend?

Instant Handbrake is incomplete (heck, it doesn't even have an official icon), but it can create iPod compatible .mp4s that are resized to the iPod's native resolution so that extra resolution won't be useless and take up space. However, I'd try iSquint. I'm not sure if it can rip directly from DVDs, but the great, easy-to-use UI is worth a try.

Pretty much, while IH is an eyesore, it saves you a step in ripping the DVD, then converting it to an iPod format.
As for the regular HandBrake, use that if you want the extra res.

The level of cluelessness in this thread is astounding.
Instant Handbrake is a simpler version of Handbrake. Both do the same thing--rip DVDs to movie files.
iSquint converts existing movie files into movie files that can be played on an iPod.
A quick visit to these products' websites would have answered your question.

I use handbrake for ripping dvd to mp4. There is a way which is very simple for the videos to go straight onto the ipod.
When you open handbrake and open the dvd go to picture settings. Then in the right hand collum go to picture size and clik the down arrow until it gets to 320 wide. Then rip to desktop or wherever. Then drag the file straight to the ipod in itunes and it goes on straight away.
Handbrake is the way forward!

haha yes that is what I meant. iSquint converts movies FILES that you have saved on the desktop while Handbrake and Instant Handbrake convert straight from the DVD.
