And thank you sir for keeping it that way!
You get too many posts from me that it's down, and not nearly enough it's working.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I forgot to reply to this earlier.
And now, time to jinx it. My ISP required a connection type change, which I did tonight. And of course things are not working right. Waiting on 2nd tier support to call me back, and teamstats is inaccessible in the meantime.

Resolved.
I took some time to fsck the server. It had a minor problem that would hang reboot after power failures - now it should come back on it's own again.

Tried to access the stat server just now, and received an error about the server not responding. Hope it's nothing serious...

DSL down. Unscheduled outage, long enough that I figure some driver creamed a network box.
The stats box is fine, but offline. Including the stats and team sigs. My backup dialup is not able to handle this.

We ought to sue the guy - not seeing my stats is causing me great mental anguish, suffering, and duress. I mean, any nut who pours cream on a network box needs to be sued...

I've been trying to dig some detail out of my ISP. They are proving resistant.
Maybe I should remind them resistance is futile.

Apparently, AT&T accidentally removed my ISP's backend network in this area. And it took them a week to realize the trouble orders pertained to the missing hardware. Also, I am a member of the proud. The select few who have not yet been reconnected. It's nice to feel so special.
Sometime next week I'm told now. Which could push it to just short of a 3 week outage.
This internet addiction is pretty bad. The shakes haven't started yet, but dialup isn't cutting it.

And I thought Comcast sucked.
Well, I guess they do, but not quite this hard and long. This has got to be some sort of suck record.

Almost there. Internet service came back yesterday morning, but with only one IP address. I don't have a 2nd for the web server.
Service plans with 1 IP may be what they're selling today, but I'm on a legacy plan with 5 IPs. So I have another issue submitted, asking for the other IPs.

How many addresses? Just the one, right?

Only need the one extra address. teamstats is a visible site - I don't like to have everyone pinging my personal LAN looking for a way in.
If I can't get them to cough up another IP address, it could be made to work. I've got a firewall router. But since I'm paying for the extra IPs, they should deliver them.

I've been informed my new network can only supply one public IP. Maybe that will change in time.
I'll set up my firewall router to manage with the one IP, probably tomorrow night. It can handle everything needed, I just need to dig through the ~700 page manual to set everything up.
The main trick is firewalling off the server from the rest of the LAN. So if it were compromised, nothing else would be reachable.

Dude... You are awesome for putting up with this shit for us.
Many, many thanks.
Edit: as the "I can't hear you!" girl was less of a joke than I thought, I think your ISP should go on the list of people who should be murdered. They are, for all intents and purposes, stealing four IP addresses from you.

Maybe not. They bumped the size of my personal webspace (which they don't even offer to new customers) and somehow my monthly price dropped to promotional rates at $5 less.

Partway there.
The server is running and stats data is updating. Reachable from within the LAN. Firewalled off so it cannot reach anything on the LAN.
DynDNS is updating, port 80 forwarded to server, firewall exception in place to allow it. But for some reason, it won't respond from outside. I'll dig into it further tomorrow night.

Does it load at reasonable speed?
Apparently, I can no longer load it by URL, since it resolves to the same IP I'm making the request from.

Not really. The server downloads far more than uploads; both are well within my speed limits (5100 kbs down / 640 kbs up).

I notice the two days or more that the SETI@HOME stats have not updated. Just wondered if something got stuck over there.

I added a local DNS record a couple days ago. Figured that was it, so I removed it and rebooted the server. It hasn't fixed itself, so I'll have to do real diagnostics tonight.

I don't know if this is useful information, but it's not timing out like usual. Mobile Safari seems to know immediately it won't be able to load the image.

Things should get better now that I deleted a few hundred thousand old image files. It either ran out of disk space, or directory entries.
Edit:
Output graphs are generated as needed and cached since the user can specify any time range. Part of the cron entry for a project does garbage collection, deleting older files from cache. This usually keeps current projects tidy, unless we've been hammered by a web crawler.
But there are no cron scripts running on completed projects. I hadn't considered that angle - the graphics output folders had grown so big I had to go in via CLI and delete using wildcard slices. Because there were so many files the rm command would not handle all files in a single pass.
Edit2: graphs are appearing again, but stats are not updating. More work tonight.
Edit3: another reboot looks to have fixed it. Something must have started up read-only on account of low disk space.
