iDisk will automatically sync the local files... i didn't know that until I left my iDisk on the other day and all of a sudden my iDisk is full and all my pictures were copied to the iDisk - which I don't want to at all... first to save room, 2nd to keep the speed of loading on iDisk.
How to STOP the iDisk to sync automatically?

There should be an option to turn it off in the .Mac preference pane, in the iDisk tab.

Why would it get locked, isn't this a OS X Issue?

Because he's probably using Panther. Automatic iDisk synchronization is a feature available in Panther, and because of this.

Did you set the Backup app to automatically backup some of your files to your idisk?
