Where would you find any decent looping movies that would work well?

I would have to recommend an an app, actually a Menu Extra called Backlight 2. Gives you access to all of your screensavers to run as a desktop background.
Backlight 2

that loop for Enlightenment would get old but it looks really nice. very smooth. I think you would have to edit a video loop - preferably from anime and then set it up to be a screensaver - *sigh* and then you could use BL2 to activate it... bummer seems like a bunch of tech for something 'simple'.

since i am an impatient mo I started with Full Color Bossa Nova from
http://www.zugakousaku.com/ {an excellent set of screensavers}
Run BL2 with that and you get a uniquely Mac moving background!
Macs Rule.

on an aside Rastermans rig is very cool...

Oh, I never thought about the screensaver route. I also just came across transparent desktops, thought I'd pass it along ->

just keep in mind that you are working your cpu with this...(moving desktops);
unless it's something simple, like a slideshow of related images (like a flip book)

man, those http://www.zugakousaku.com/ screensavers are far and away the coolest I've seen for the mac. I definitely dig the artistic approach over the flashy 3d graphics.

Does anyone else have recommendations for cool Mac screensavers?

I have used backlight 2 and another app that did the same thing to have the macquarium as my desktop. There is nothing quite like having fish swim around your icons.

On my computer at least, the terminal trick seems to make expos stop working. I don't know if this is the case for anyone else or not. I'm using a DP 2.5 GHz G5.
Peace
