Pretty new to macs with a new Macmini and new Freecom 60Gb hard disk with a USB connection. I have a current .mac license so I downloaded backup 2, but it does not appear to backup to USB hard drives? Finder finds it OK but the 'save to Disk' in backup 2 is greyed out. All the info seems to refer to Firewire Drives. Does this mean backup 2 will not backup to USB drives?

I have a trial version of Dobry Backuper. Has anyone tried this? any comments?

Check into Carbon Copy Cloner. Excellent backup program for Macs. I tried a USB connection with an external HD and it worked fine with the program but it was slow. Switched to a Firewire connection and it is much faster. Macs work better with firewire than USB.

I think maybe the 'save to disk' is only greyed out in the trial version of backup 2. I experimented with the setup with someone who had a full membership and it seemed to work fine. thanks for your reply.
