My nano battery seems to wear down quickly. I could listen to my shuffle for days before recharging, but the new nano seems to be dead within a few hours. Is this normal or do I have a dud? My cell phone battery lasts longer!

It should last at least 16 hours.

16 hours is hard to achieve. You have to completely turn off the backlight and just let the music play. Any click wheel or backlight activity will drain the battery quicker. My nano usually lasted a few hours. My video iPod lasts around 8 hours.

I can't verify this right now, but www.apple.com/batteries should have some info. Feel free to correct my link if it's wrong

This is from the apple site about batteries:
Maximum Battery Life

iPod can play up to 20 hours, iPod nano can play up to 14 hours and iPod shuffle can play up to 12 hours on a full charge at original capacity. Apple runs a number of tests for battery life using songs encoded in various formats, including MP3, AAC and songs purchased from the iTunes Music Store. The songs are played continuously through a playlist without interruption, with backlight and equalizer off, using factory default settings.
I've turned off EQ and set my backlight to 5 seconds. So, today I'll play my nano and time it and see how long it'll go.

Anyone else have any play times to report?
