I am in a hotel for a week and the hotel only has a wireless network for the internet. Staples has a Linksys wireless router for $9.99 this week. Can I use this to connect to the wireless network? What settings do I need to change?

What you need is not a router-you need a bridge. A router usually will not behave as a client, but a bridge is built to do just that. And while $10 for a wireless router is a great deal (consider picking it up to have a spare when the cat knocks your coffee off onto your current wireless router-BAD kitty!), I'd look for a wireless bridge. Here's one at Buy.com, and one at Staples.

I am pretty sure that won't work.

What kind of Mac do you have? Maybe you should be considering installing an Airport card if your Mac will support it.

The hotel gave me a bridge to use. It was a pain to s/u, all of the settings had to be put in manually but I finally got it working.

Doesn't your G3 PB have a PC Card slot? There are a number of Mac-compatible WiFi PC cards out there...
