I have some artwork in an .ai file, but it's spread across many different layers. How do I safely migrate these layers to another .ai file with all of their attributes and proper layers intact? If I copy and paste, it just pastes it all into one layer. In Photoshop, you can select a bunch of layers, and drag and drop them onto another canvas. How do you do it in Illustrator?

Any veteran vector artists wanna help me out? Thanks.

There is an option in the Layers palette called Paste Remembers Layers. Select that option, and you will now be able to paste your artwork and keep the layers intact!
