I guess I walked right into that one. Is it that you don't like him at all or just that you aren't a huge fan?

Just not a huge fan. Won't deny that he has major talent, and is a legend, for sure.

I'm seriously considering buying the boxed set from the iTMS but it would be a massive download epic.

I wish I could buy some of the album-only songs on there. I especially want his cover of Marvin Gaye's "Stubborn Kind of Fellow." As an alternative to the iTunes boxed set, I recommend getting the 6 best albums (in this order: Talking Book, Innervisions, Songs in the Key of Life, Fulfillingness' First Finale, Music of My Mind, and Hotter Than July) and buying the 4-CD At the Close of a Century (or just Greatest Hits, Vol. 2 for the pre-MoMM material and iTunes singles for the best post-HTJ songs).

Now, here's my personal top 10. Again, these aren't necessarily his best songs; they're just my favorites (and it does change a little).

10. Summer Soft
9. Creepin'
8. Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours
7. Ngiculela - Es Una Historia - I Am Singing
6. I Wish
5. You Haven't Done Nothin'
4. I Believe (When I Fall in Love It Will Be Forever)
3. Sir Duke
2. Don't You Worry 'Bout a Thing
1. Isn't She Lovely

Your # 2 would be my #1. That whole album is INCREDIBLE.

Stevie Wonder and Tiger Woods are in a restaurant having dinner.

Woods turns to Wonder and says, "How's the singing career going?"

Stevie Wonder replies, "Not too bad. How's the golf?"

Woods replies, "Not too bad, I've had some problems with my swing, but I think I've got that going right now."

Stevie says, "I always find that when my swing goes wrong, I need to stop playing for a while and not think about it. Then, the next time I play, it seems to be all right."

Tiger says, "You play golf?"

Wonder says, "Oh, yes, I've been playing for years."

Woods says, "Not to be insensitive, but you're blind! How can you play golf if you can't see?"

Wonder replies, "I get my caddy to stand in the middle of the fairway and call to me. I listen for the sound of his voice and play the ball toward him. Then, when I get to where the ball lands, my caddy moves to the green or farther down the fairway and again I play the ball toward his voice."

"But how do you putt?" asks Woods.

"Well," says Stevie, "I get my caddy to lean down in front of the hole and call to me with his head on the ground, and I just play the ball toward his voice."

Woods asks, "What's your handicap?"

Stevie says, "Well, I'm a scratch golfer."

Woods, incredulous, says to Stevie, "We've got to play a round sometime."

Wonder replies, "Well, most people don't take me seriously, so I only play for money, say -- $10,000 a hole."

Woods thinks about it and says, "OK, I'm for that, when would you like to play?"

Stevie says, "Pick a night."

Some days it probably is my #1. As for Innervisions, I don't think "incredible" does it justice. When I'm forced to call "All in Love Is Fair" the album's weakest song, you know it's a classic.

As you can see, I love the anti-Nixon songs (#13 and #5). I guess Stevie thought "He's Misstra Know It All" was too pretty, because completely ripped Tricky Dick on "You Haven't Done Nothin'" (and I think it might even be funkier than "Superstition").

What gets me is about Superstition is that technically it CAN'T work - there's triplet shuffles layered with sixteenth-shuffles in the Clavinets (and God-only-knows-WHAT shuffles), with that amazing hi-hat.

It only works because it's all Stevie. That groove just COMPLETELY blows my mind.

That's yet another top 3 with "Sir Duke." I guess he was right: you can feel it all over.
