Hi,
I checked out the guide( http://www.westwind.com/reference/OS...processes.html ) to Mac Os X processes but found a few that aren't listed and am wondering what they are:
/System/Library/CoreServices/BezelUI/BezelUIServer
/usr/sbin/cupsd -f
http://winlab.csbnet.se Visit the Mac Demo Scene.

cupsd is
common unix printer service daemon.

try this on your mac in safari:
http://127.0.0.1:631

or

http://localhost:631

This should give you the web gui for CUPS. The config file is /etc/cups/cupsd.conf. You have to be root to view it. I wouldn't play with it unless you're comfortable though, since the print manager app might get upset and you could have to troubleshoot your way out of a mess.

Teh BezelUIServer is supposed to be:
BezelUIServer is the program in OS X that is responsible for displaying the "bezel images" for certain system events. When you hit the disk eject, volume, brightness, and keyboard brightness buttons, the corresponding system action is performed and an image is displayed in the foreground.

Cheers,

Rich

I dont know if anyone has ever encountered this before, but I am having trouble with BezelUIServer. Here's the basic problem, every now and again it starts up automatically, and the image is displayed on the screen no matter what. The first time it happened, it increased the sound, and I couldn't do anything to decrease it, or mute it. The last 10 or 15 times it has happened, it will decrease the sound until it is muted. I turn it back up, it mutes it. The image is also displayed on the screen constantly.
Here's what I've done to try and fix the problem. First I find the process using terminal with the 'top' command, then I use 'sudo kill [pid]' and this does nothing. It reopens BezelUIServer, and mutes the sound again. After finding out this didn't work, I decided to delete the files in my system folders named 'BezelServices.plist'. Finder allowed me to delete them, and when I restart, sound works fine again, and the image is gone, although BezelUIServer is running again, and the system has recreated BezelServices.plist in two locations. After about 20-30 minutes, the problem occurs again, and I have to go through the same process. I've tried changing keyboards, that doesn't do anything. I've tried killing other process, that also doesn't do anything (at the moment, I can't remember what other process i've tried killing). Does anyone know what a possible long term solution for this might be? Thanks for any help you might have
-Jacob
