trying to load OSX 10.4.9 to my OSX 10.3.9 G4 but am having problems. I go to install and when restarting as instructed, my system keeps booting off of my hard drive & not the disk? Any solutions? I've tried holding the c key... same result.

Hold down option at startup to see if you get a choice between the two -- the drive OS and the disc.

its relatively important that you at least verify that you have a dvd drive before we can help.
the pci/yikes! G4's didn't have dvd'roms as an option, and cdroms were still an option on sawtooth G4's.
check out wikipedia or your system profiler, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_Mac_G4
