They sold out. That was fast. Unless the local stores have them in stock there are no more.

Best type of printer I've ever used. I have a OKI c9600hdn and it's amazing.
LED printers have a lot less to break than lasers, a lot faster also.

Well, if 1994 technology counts as "new". It's been around as an alternative to laser for quite some time, almost exclusively from Oki.

yeah, its not really new so much as different. there are, or have been, a few other manufacturers but OKis pretty much the only one now.
The only downside has been a lack of multiples sources for remanufactured toner cartridges, but the cost per page is pretty competitive and being able to print 13"x48" is nice.

I was at Office Depot the other day and noticed they are still selling dot matrix printers for some crazy price like $350!

Why's that crazy? Dot matrix printers cannot be sold below cost the way inkjets and cheap lasers are, since the ribbons have to be replaced so seldom. Furthermore, the only dot matrixes on the market are business-class, since no home users have used dot matrixes for years and years. So what you're buying is a business printer that uses cheap ink. It's fair.
Though it's definitely not a prevalent technology any more, dot matrix still has its place, as the only surviving printer technology that can print multipart forms.
