While we hear a lot of complaining about support these days, I'd like to offer a post to show that sometimes they do come through.
Nothing major occured but my install disc got scratched in the drive. I'm not quite sure of the sequence of events but I was taking the disc out of the platter and the platter closed on me and the door closed on the disc. instintevly I pulled the disk but the door scratched the disc.
I called apple and being on hold for only a few minutes I was greeted with a pleasent person who after determining my drive wasn't defective told me a new set of install discs will be sent out.
Very nice experience.
btw before I called, I tried creating a disk image from the disk and installing the software and both of those attempts failed due to a I/O error and I could hear the drive trying to read the disc. Plus I attempt to clean it but the scratch was fairly deep.
Now I just hope nothing happens until those discs come in.
