iMac DV Display Issues

I came into a number of iMac DV's some have really dark displays like when they start up, it gets brighter as you let them run longer, any ideas what this could be..

A slowly failing CRT.
My old Princeton 17" did the same thing for about a year or two before it died.

well thats good looks like i got a spare CRT that i can put in it and it will be fine... thanks for the info

be sure you know what you're doing before you mess with a crt. we don't want a deadcollegestudent.

its been sitting discharged for over a week.. i pulled the old crt tonight and figured as long as I had it this far apart i might as well completely clean it.. so all of the case plastics are drying nicely.. this thing smelled so bad. I dont think the PAV board is bad because it powers on just the display is super dark, gets brighter after a bit
