Hey guys,
I have three site/business ideas in my queue I'd like to start up, but my problem is I never have enough time to work on them
What would be great though is if we could devise some sort of means to share these ideas for critique while minimizing theft of these ideas somehow (although I may not be intensely concerned with that, ideas are cheap, execution is another story). If these ideas pass your smell test it might inspire me to try to find time for them.
Would any of you be interested in participating in something like this if we could work out the details, or contributing your own ideas? This could take place right here in this forum/thread.

I have 100 ideas. Having the same problem as you. Just don't have enough time to work on them.
I think I need to narrow it to 3 ideas. ![Laughing](images/smilies/laughing.gif)

Me too, put I've discarded most of them and have settled on the three. My brother is going to get me to develop his with him, so maybe that's four.
Since we're in the same boat, would you be interested in sharing some of your surplus? I'm sort of interested in hearing about some of the problems and deficiencies with the world around you see that software could potentially help with.

I mostly develop in the LAMP platform. PHP is my language of choice. Getting into more Javascript and HTML 5. Hoping that all internet appliances and mobile devices will eventually settle on using just javascript and HTML 5. The future is in mobile computing.
Most of my ideas center around affiliate marketing and developing an e-commerce platform. Oh, and of course 'social media'. ![Big Grin](http://forums.macnn.com/images/smilies/oldschool/biggrin.gif)

Are you into Node.js?

Care to elaborate? I'm surprised that porn isn't involved.

Heard of it. Saw the video of the guy talking about it. Still not sure what it is. Haha.. Maybe I have to watch the video again.

Porn is not involved. Who pays for porn these days? Good of driving traffic?
Actually. I want to create a site involving politics. Not just a blog, but one involving lots of fancy data, stats, and HTML5 graphics.
Or maybe start my own super PAC like Stephen Colbert. http://www.colbertsuperpac.com/

Well, you left PHP/Ruby/Python and Apache from your list in just listing Javascript and HTML5, hence my question...
As I understand it, Node.js is a way to replace the whole model of having a web server constantly running and listening to requests with a client side Javascript piece that interacts directly with the server OS. It is supposed to be the next big thing, although I haven't started using it myself.

Node.js sounds like the building blocks for the next generation of web servers or application servers. Or setup as a service or daemon to respond to actions and events. Not sure if I would want to mess with it directly. Maybe if someone writes a library or a framework for it.

The Yahoo team is doing a lot of stuff with Node.js and their YUI framework. YUI is similar to jQuery but more complex, and better suited for large scale applications in many ways. If you Google Node.js and YUI you'll come across all sorts of stuff.

YUI, jquery (jquery ui, jquery mobile), and Extjs. Messing with Extjs a lot lately. Only problem with extjs is the licensing issue. Looking to build applications using those frameworks and having it run on Adobe Air. However, I'm not sure how viable Adobe Air is these days.

What draws you to Adobe Air? I don't know enough about it to know where it fits in the world...

Goes along with the same idea of standardizing on javascript and HTML 5. Write once, run on multiple platforms. Being able to run your app on Mac, Windows, Android devices, and so forth . Adobe Air gives more access to the file system, computer hardware, and peripherals that a basic web app does not have access to.

As is openness/interoperability, and security.
Sorry, hyteckit, I'm incredibly knee jerky about pretty much everything Adobe web, I just have an incredible bias...
It would obviously be very hard to redo a site like homestarrunner.com with Canvas, but there are a dwindling number of things where I really think anything Adobe puts out makes a great fit.
Then again, I should probably be more open minded and curious and stuff...
