Computer builder CyberPowerPC announced the availability of a new gaming notebook this week, called the Zeusbook Edge X6-100. The new computer is said to be the lightest and thinnest notebook to date from the company, at 4.75 pounds and 0.82 inches thick. The Zeusbook comes with enough power to run most modern games, but also gives consumers the chance to do a little customization if they want more punch.

CyberPower's notebook fits into a niche somewhere between an ultrabook and the hefty 17-inch gaming laptops with its 15.6-inch full HD 1080p IPS panel. The display features a 170-degree viewing and 72 percent color gamut. For those wanting to use an HDTV or 4K television, the notebook also has a DisplayPort. Other displays can be plugged in via VGA or HDMI.

The baseline specifications for the Zeusbook Edge X6 include an Intel Core i7-4710HQ 2.5 GHz processor, 8GB of DDR3 RAM and a 1TB hard drive. Graphics are powered by am Nvidia GTX 870M with 6GB of DDR5 memory. The Zeusbook comes with built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0, an Ethernet port, two USB 2.0 ports, two USB 3.0 ports, an SD card reader, and 3.5 mm jacks for headphones and a microphone.

Backlighting is also included for the keyboard for those gaming sessions in the dark. CyberPower uses a light sensor to adjust the brightness of the white LEDS to appropriate levels. Sound comes through a 2.1 channel speaker setup with Dolby Digital Plus Home Theater. The Zeusbook also includes an optical drive, unlike many other lightweight machines.

Upgrades are limited for the Zeusbook X6-100, mostly focusing on RAM and storage for the options. RAM can be upgraded to 16GB from Corsair or G.Skill. Storage can be added in the forms of mSATA: solid state drives from 64GB to 1TB, or hard drives from 500MB to 1TB.

Pricing for the Zeusbook Edge X6-100 starts at $1,389. CyberPower indicates that the notebook won't be shipping until August, but is available now for pre-order.
