So -- I as well, have a distorted speaker issue. I called up the applecare and was surprised that she admitted it was a known problem -- and people have resolved it by taking it to apple and having them replace the speaker. really sucks -- I know that this will take 2 or more weeks.

would you guys take yours in to get it repaired or is the distortion such a small problem that you would just forget it?

I would most certainly take it in to get fixed. I do presentations often enough where I would have to have a working speaker.

I have a week 17 (8617) MBP, and I have the right speaker issue. I guess I'll call Applecare and note the problem. I'll have to put off fixing it for a few weeks, because I really NEED this machine for work just now. Annoying. Don't they test these things?
