Has anyone been to an apple store recently that still has tibooks? If so, have they been discounted and how much so compared to the Albooks. I know the website has refurbed ones and when I called they said they only had refurbed ones for sale. So didnt know if there were any sightings in the apple stores or not.

... or any retailers for that matter. I really thought the ti would still be available at a large number of places but haven't seen any except the onslaught of them on ebay and a few refurb ones.

Apple took so long to release the new models that all models of 15" Ti Powerbook were out of the channel long before anything else was available.

I bought my Ti book 2 weeks before the AL books came out. They had plenty of them. Check around, I'm sure a few stores have a few left.

On Saturday Bay Street in Emeryville had two refurb 867 TiBooks for $1549 and a couple of 1 Gig machines. I went in thinking about getting one but after playing with the new Al book decided to go with the new one.

The problem is that the price points of the new PowerBooks (*especially* if you can get the educational discount - wow!) are so aggressive that the clearance prices on the TiBooks just aren't that attractive from what I've seen.

For a couple hundred bucks more, you could have a brand-spankin' new AluBook. I'll take that one, please. ;-)

CompUSA still has some in stock. I don't know about pricing but they're out there! Does Apple have any kind of program with resellers whereby Apple buys back updated models? Perhaps they do and then make them available to the education chanel at even better discounts.

Yeah thats my problem with the price points. I have this pb on order:

I'm hoping mine actually ships out tomorrow. Thats the on or before ship date and apple charged my account on Saturday with the correctly figured tax (a bit more than the estimate).

PBG4 15.2/1.25GHZ/512/60/SD/AP/BL/LL Z07E02CQU
On or before 09/29/2003
1.25GHz PowerPC G4 065-4116
512MB DDR333 SDRAM-2X256MB 065-4139
60GB Ultra ATA Drive@4200rpm 065-4117
Super Drive (DVD-R/CD-RW) 065-4119
Country Kit/Airport Extreme 065-4496
BkLit Keyboard/Mac OS 065-4495
$2,019.00

So a refurbed 1Gig Ti at $1999 just doesn't make sense.

All of the mint-condition new non-refurbished untouched virgin GOOD TiBooks have been sold. It's been so friggin long since the powerBooks have been updated that there aren't any left. You can get a deal on a refurbished or used one. At the Apple Store, you can pay $2500 for a laptop no longer worth half that.
Actual conversation between UCLA and Stanford during a login on early Internet - U: I'm going to type an L! Did you get an L? S: I got one-one-four. L! U:Did you get the O? S: One-one-seven. U: <types G> S: The computer just crashed.

No. The dealer takes a loss if they have to sell the old model at or below cost in order to sell it at all.

I see. C'est la vie. My daughter ordered it for me, she is a college student. I am too old to go back to school. As for the developer part, too old to learn that stuff too, I guess.
