Anyone else having issues with this? It's like trying to not oversteer a '75 Cadillac in a rainstorm going 70 mph.

Photoshop is the worst, I can't seem to move fast to where I want to go, drop downs, lasso, anything. Happens in all apps. I'm using an old-school Logitech scroll-2 clicker with the Mouseware pref pane.

If there is no solution to this is it possible to revert back to 4.6????

It's probably an incompatibility with Mouseware. Since your mouse doesn't benefit the tiniest bit from using that software, just remove Logitech's junky driver and use OS X's built-in mouse driver.

Thanks Tooki!

But I think I'd lose the programable clicks if I did that, no?
Will Apple's driver allow me to set the right button as "Option/Click" or "Double Click"...etc?
It almost behaves like the Windoze cursors I've seen on friends PC's...

You could try SteerMouse (which I use with my Logitech MX100 and LOVE) or USB Overdrive. They allow you to set the buttons to do different things, even on a per-application basis if you so choose.

SteerMouse has a 15 day trial if I recall correctly.

OK Now I've REALLY done it!
So I tried playing with the Sys Pref window for regular mouse n keyboard, and
tried clicking on "Right Button" or something like that, now I can't even use my mouse.
Everytime I click on anything, the stupid Option/Click menu comes up. Also when I try to revert back to the Left Click setting, I can't even do that!

I had to plug the useless Apple Optical Mouse in just to type this message.
Which, by the way makes the "Left/Right" radio buttons disappear when using this mouse.
THIS SUX!!!!!!!!!!! I got a lot of work to do!!!

OK I solved that problem by plugging 2 mice in at the same time.
Now I did install the SteerMouse, restart, and I basically have the same problem with the "Variable Speed" at which the mouse is controlled, or the cursor rather.

Isn't anyone else noticing a difference in the feel of their mouse control???
I need to have my precision to do the PS work I've been doing fo ryears.

I tried the Apple Optical mouse and the control is exactly the same.
It's like it wants to jump quicker when I move fast, and crawl when I move slow!

There's settings in Universal Access, but that doesn't really make it move like before the stupid, useless F*$#king 4.7 update. IS THERE ANYWAY TO REVERT BACK TO 4.6???
Appple's updates always cover the most meaningless and useless fixes, and somehow seem to manage more bugs introduced than they fix!!!

Have you tried right-clicking with your old mouse? If you clicked the right mouse button as primary button checkbox, then left-clicking would bring up the contextual menu and right-clicking would be a normal click.

Well, the mouse is supposed to do that to some extent, it's called "mouse acceleration" or something along those lines. But it sounds like it's set too high for you. Did you try the programs that cybergoober mentioned? I think they will allow you to adjust that setting, or even turn it off. Myself, I use the Logitech Control Center software which changes the behavior/speed of the mouse a little bit compared to the Mouse prefpane. Since you also have a Logitech mouse you could give it a try.

THanks,
I was able to "tame" the accelration part, and have disabled the Log. Control Center, (that's what I've been using all along before this), but the SteerMouse program I've tried is no different.
Sometimes it's a smooth response, but most of the time it just simply oversteers.
It's like the difference between a Porsche and a (70's) Buick. I wish I knew what was going on.
It's like you go up to drop down a Photoshop menu, like hi-lites/midtones/shadows for example, and I always choose the wrong one because it's not keeping up with what I've been used to for 6 years...

Incredibly frustrating. I really think it's a glich in the OS because it NEVER did this before this lovely update!

there isnt a way to revert back to 10.4.6, unless you completly reinstalled tiger and did the 10.4.6 update again.

Yeah, I know.
So many haxies, so many passwords, so many prefs.
I want to do a clean install so it looks like a good time (and price) to get that 500 Gig external
I've been eyeing so I can back up and clean install.

I SWEAR my G5 from a year ago never really ran right, and I'd suspect it had inherrited bad genes from the Migration Manager from my G4...

The cursor's pin-point smooth, and then out of nowhere, it's choppy and unresponsive...
Thanks for all the help and time guys!

UPDATE:

Well, so I shut down my G5 last night to give it a well needed rest, booted up this morning, and that's the 4th reboot after the dreaded update, and so far so good.
I didn't want to report that since I believe in jinxes, but it's looking good so far.
Then I got the other updates today, and repaired my disk and permissions, something I hadn't done in a long time.

So it looks safe to say it repaired itself thru a reboot......

THANK YOU for all the help, 2 cents and support, this forum ROX! Now, GO SOX!
