It'll run, but "well" is highly dependent on your expectations. What is driving you towards upgrading? Given that we've all seen the future (and the future is Intel) I'd hold off any investment in your G4 and try to plan ahead for the purchase of a new Mac (which will come with Leopard, of course.)

right now, budget...my powerbook runs great, is in great shape.
i can bring it to 10.5 for the cost of the software, seems a good investment.

word, web, iphoto.
will they run well?

10.5 will run well. 10.4 might feel faster, but 10.5 is the better OS.

IMO if you're gonna be running OS X, you should be running either 10.4 or 10.5. I run 10.5 on my Cube 450 actually.

I would consider getting extra RAM though. Then again, my Cube 450 only has 768 MB RAM, and it's OK if I don't multitask too much.

It'd run okay. I would max out the RAM though. 10.5 would probably be just as quick for daily tasks like email and browsing. My 867 MHz PowerBook feels just as quick with Leopard once it gets going.

I've got the 1GHz PB running 10.5 and it's fine. But I've got 2GBs of RAM in it.
