�63 for one 512 chip my iBooks 512 chip in march was �120 so two BETTER NEWER types of ram that costs the same as one older chip? am i missing something

This is desktop RAM and desktop RAM costs less than iBook RAM because it's a different form factor. The iBook's RAM is on a small outline DIMM--a very tiny and dense board which costs more to make than the desktop DIMM you are looking at here.

Those prices are correct.
