I have installed Darwin 6.6.2 on an x86 machine. Install was flawless, network configuration was not. I am at a complete loss as to what I am doing wrong with this. I have followed the documentation to a T and get nothing. I have also tried to do it manually:
I do this command to set my IP:
Code:
ifconfig en0 myipaddress netmask mynetmask up
to which ifconfig returns the proper info. I then add my default route:
Code:
route add mygatewayaddress default
then I edited /etc/resolv.conf
Code:
nameserver mydnsserveripaddress
then when I try to ping google as a test I get this response:
that error is recursive. As you can see, DNS appears to be working, it grabbed the IP of google right?
So I then try to ping my gateway:
Code:
[localhost:/]ping mygatewayipaddress
PING mygatewayipaddress (mygatewayipaddress): 56 bytes data
arplookup 0.0.0.0 failed: could not allocate llinfo
arpresolve: can't allocate llinfo for 0.0.0.0rt
this error is also recursive. As I said before this is what I get when I try to configure networking manually, but I have no luck if I use the documentation either. What Am I doing wrong?
