Well, this tends to often be our favourite hobby on MacNN, especially around MacWorld and the WWDC.

So my question to all of you is, please list only ONE hardware choice that you would like Apple to make, and then one Software choice you would like Apple to make.

Hardware:
eBook, a sub-iBook, external optical drive, 12 inch or 10 inch screen, G4 proc, though a G3 would be doable, decent graphics card for QE and CI, small HD, great battery life, targeted at the edu markets.
If they could keep the price on it down I could see myself convincing a fair number of friends to at least look at one. And it'd be great for all those schools who are buying iBooks.

Software:
OK aside from FTP in the finder, I would love to see the next iLife App be one that would let you rip your DVDs to your HD in avc, (that's that new H. whatever the heck isn't it?) and possibly some way to stream it out to your TV. Either way it'd be awesome to rip all my Family's DVDs and be able to watch them anywhere I want with my PowerBook when people wanna watch movies in dorm or something. Also with this you could throw in basic editing features, IE you can cut out dumb parts, bleep stuff, or add in extended scenes from the bonus material.

As for Hardware: I want the ultimate PDA (a subnotebook really) - 20 to 40 GB HD, keyboard, 7-10 inch screen, at least 10 hours battery life.
Something like the photoshopped 12 PB that someone made a few months ago.

Software: well - Tiger is everything I can think of.
