There doesn't seem to be much argument this time over what Tiger GM is...

piracy already confirmed it as 8A428, which is what people are getting in boxes, but I was beginning to think that people were going to argue that 8A432 is the "REAL GM"

Since there's no argument thread to post this in, I figured I'd put it in it's own thread.

Welcome to "Is it the GM or not?" Version 10.4! (really version 2)

Starring Michael Palin as random forum poster, and John Cleese as piracy.

<british accent on>

"I'd like to have an argument, please"

"All right, would you like the 'Mac OS X GM argument,' for 1, or would you like the 'Is it legal to pirate prerelease builds of Mac OS X or not argument, for 8?"

"I'll take the 'Mac OS X GM argument.'"

"Thank you. Just step through that door."

<customer steps through door>

"I'm concerned about whether 4K78/5G64/6C115/7B85/8A428 is REALLY the GM."

"It is... trust me."

"Why should I trust you?"

"Because I'm piracy, and I've been right about every single release of Mac OS X. 4K78/5G64/6C115/7B85/8A428 is GM."

"It can't be... it has <insert showstopper-du-jour here> bug in it. What about 4K83/5G68/6C115b/7Cxx/8A432?"

"4K78/5G64/6C115/7B85/8A428 really IS the GM."

"No, it isn't"

"Yes, it is. And even if it wasn't, you shouldn't care that much, because you ARE going to buy it, right? RIGHT?"

"No, it's not"

"Yes, it is, PIRATE!"

"No, it's not. And I'm not a pirate."

"Yes, it is, and yes you are"

"Hey, wait a minute, I only paid 1, you know"

"Sorry. Ahem. 4K78/5G64/6C115/7B85/8A428 is GM."

"No, it's not."

"Yes, it is."

...

DING!

"Time's up! Good morning!"

<british accent off>

So you see, instead of history repeating itself, it appears that people on MacNN are finally learning from their mistakes. But still, I bet the same thing will happen all over again next year with Mac OS X 10.5 Jagulep. (Ligers are too trendy).

To be fair, though, most Brits aren't very good at British humor either.

This doesn't seem to be a MacOS support thread
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.
