I'm trying to fax a file, but do I have to use my internal modem, or can I fax over dsl? I'm new to this, so how do I set Tiger up so I can fax something?

No, you cannot fax over DSL directly. What you must do is use one of the splitter's provided with your DSL service and run the DSL to your DSL modem and a phone line to your Mac's modem.
Both signals travel over your phone line but you MUST run a separate, split signal to each appropriate device (DSL modem or "regular" phone modem).
