Hello so after some research I found that the chipset on the macbook is the Intel 945GM.... see this link scroll down to system.

and then I look the information up on the intel labtop chipset see this link this is a comparasion...

so if you look at the second link it states the following for the 950GM:
Discrete Graphics: PCI Express x16

and on the first link it states the the chipset has a PCI express x16 bus... not to mention is says the shared video memory is 128mb.

this generated all kinds of questions in my head....

is there any chance that the macbook's video can be upgraded base on this info?
not to mention whats up with 128mb????? isnt it 64?????

talk to me people....!

No upgrade - even if there was an open PCIe slot on the mobo, which theres not, there would not be anywhere to physically put the card - theres just not enough room.

The video in the MacBook under OS X, as it stands, is 64 MB (plus 16 for 'overhead'. This is a limit imposed by the OS, as the GMA950 can use up to 224 MB of shared memory.

Seeing as most high-end PCIe cards are bigger than the MacBook itself, let's deduce the obvious conclusion.

harris, you mentioned that the 64M shared memory limit is set by the OS, is it technically possibly to use software to increase this ceiling for people that have plenty of RAM to share?

It will be eventually. Somebody just needs to write it.
