making a grayscale scan black and white. It's a piece of music and it looks like garbage right now--lots of gray markings on the page. I want it to be black and white with no blur.

I don't have photoshop and I can't figure out how to do it in Seashore. Any other thoughts?

I tried adjusting the image as a .jpg in Word, but then it made the whole thing REALLY light.

Actually, you can use Preview to achieve your aims. Open the file in Preview and open the Image Correction tools (from the Tools menu). Click the white point/black point swatch and adjust the levels of each to highten the blacks and whites in the image.

However, GC will give you better control over this if you want to download it.
