Hello I have a PowerMac G5 1.6mhz and want to know if there a chance that I can upgrade any of the components ie. the CPU it has a CD/CDR but would like a DVDR/RW.

OK I found a DVD Drive, just need to know about the CPU now.

G5 CPUs are not upgradeable.

You can upgrade the RAM, HD, and optical drive. A CPU upgrade might be possible in theory, but no one has offered the faster CPUs for consumer sale. It also might be soldered down.

If you got creative, you might be able to add an internal USB device or two. But there isn't a lot of space. You might also be able to swap out the LCD for a higher res panel - but that would be a major hardware hack.
