My local sandwich shop sells the best sandwich I've ever had*.

Grilled haloumi and roasted mushrooms (portobello I think) with basil pesto and rocket on a brown seeded baguette.

Its just fantastic.

*There is one possible exception. My ex-girlfriend once made me a bacon, mushroom and stilton sandwich which involved an entire small loaf of broad. It was truly wondrous but will probably never be repeated. The haloumi ones I can buy whenever I want.

What are other people's favourite sandwiches?
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

That sounds amazing.

Sandwiches are so fun because it all depends on what you're doing and where you are. For example chunky peanut butter with raspberry jam and thick old cheddar slices on some whole-grain bread is amazing during the weekday, but the same cheese with over-light egg and thick juicy bacon is something to die for on Saturday mornings.

I also used to live by an italian sandwich shop and it was freakin amazing. Sigh.

As in a slice of toast between two slices of bread?
Sounds old school. And a bit dry.

You were lucky. I used to dream about living in a shoebox in the middle of the road.

sandwiches are ace but the bacon sarnie is king. It's a sub genre all its own with different types of bacon, breeds of pig etc not to mention the perennial red or brown cause debate. Local cirencester deli made By Bob's has the best bacon sarnie I have ever had but its a wide field.

I miss the steak n cheese from the greek place in Brookline. BLT is classic also. Turkey club. How can you pick one as best?

I don't know what a sarnie is but it sounds awesome.

Sarnie = sandwich.

Thus this thread title = "The Best Sarnie".
