Is the new Mac Mini's graphics card powerful enough to ensure that I can watch (for example) an 8G Blue Ray ripped film on a 27 inch screen?

I have an HTPC with Core 2.5GHz Core i3 w/ HD2000 integrated graphics. It breezed through ripped BluRay movies with no issues. The HD4000 is quite a bit faster so I don't think you'll have any problems. Actually, my wife's laptop has the previous generation Intel GPU (the GMA4500HD) and it plays 720P no problem as well. Might want a more definitive answer but my weaker GPU eats HD for lunch.

Yes, playing video is no issue. Intel GPUs have had support for offloading video decoding to the GPU for several generations now, and in any case, the CPU in the Mac mini is fast enough to handle it without any offloading, should it have to.

The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.

Yeah. If you're looking for a gaming machine then the 4000 will become an issue on framerate-dependent graphics-intensive games. Video, not a hitch with anything.
