Everyone likes getting something for nothing, especially when there's no or relatively few catches. Freebie Friday is the post where the MacNN staff find stuff you can make use of this weekend, without spending a single cent. This time, get ten albums from Microsoft, grab a game from GOG, install Cut the Rope 2 on iOS, and use an iPhone or iPad as a second monitor for your desktop, all completely free.

Do you want to simultaneously start exploring the world of virtual reality, at the same time as celebrating the release of the new Star Wars movie? Google is currently giving away Star Wars: The Force Awakens Cardboard, the lightweight VR headsets you use with your phone and specially created apps. Available in four distinctive designs, you can even get them delivered to your door at no extra charge. While the store does appear to have stopped offering them at the time of writing, keep checking the page as more may become available in the coming days.

If you fancy getting some new albums, Microsoft is offering a selection of ten albums to download for free. The list includes Revival by Selena Gomez, Dark Before Dawn from Breaking Benjamin, Delirium from Ellie Goulding, and Chaos And The Calm by James Bay.

If you run Windows on Bootcamp or just happen to have a Windows PC you occasionally game on, have a look over at GOG. As part of this weekend's winter sale, GOG is giving away Giants: Citizen Kabuto for Windows. All you have to do is sign in and click the link on the front page this weekend to have it added to your account.

ZeptoLab has made Cut the Rope 2 free on the App Store for the first time. Swipe the screen to cut rope and get Om Nom closer to his reward, as he moves out of his box and into new environments. While the game is free, it does offer in-app purchases for in-game bonuses.

If you have the need to use a second monitor, but don't want to shell out for one, try out Splashtop Wired XDisplay - Extend & Mirror, which is currently free in the App Store. This app can be used to extend your Mac or PC desktop onto an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, treating it as an extra monitor at a 1080p resolution.

Net yourself a neat collection of apps from MacNN Deals' Mighty Mac App Bundle. This ten-app bundle includes iTunes Converter, WinX DVD Ripper, Synergy App, AirRadar by Koingo, Window Tidy, Autograph Signature App, ZipZapMac's Memory Cleaner, Keep Files Private with Invisible, Yummy FTP Alias, and Privatus Automated Privacy Protection. Collectively, these apps are said to be worth $131, but the bundle itself is completely free to download.
